I fairly large part of me want to be more writer-y and make writer friends and make more fic and have people ask about what I’m working on and get excited when I post things and all that wonderful romanticized stuff that goes along with being a loved fanfic author (at least in my head).

I realize that the solution to this issue is to like… write but that is a lot of freaking work.

we’ve all heard of the fake dating trope… but have u considered.. fake exes trope…..

  • ‘my new romance-obsessed friend asked me who my last date was with and i was too embarrassed to say i’ve never been on a date so i blurted your name and it turns out they know you’ au
  • ‘i didn’t want to tell my friend who my real date last night was so i just pointed at a random stranger (you) but now they’re storming over to interrogate you and you’re playing along??? okay’ au
  • ‘a mutual friend tried to introduce us, but we already knew each other from LARPing but we’re both too embarrassed to admit that so i jokingly said we used to date and oh god now our friend wont stop interrogating us about it’ au
  • ‘im egging your house for a dare but your parent is a cop and they’re yelling at me so i told them that you were my ex and you wronged me and now you’re coming outside and please go along with this i don’t want to go to jail’ au
  • ‘my current partner is a huge asshole and i need a reason to break up with them so will you pretend to be my possessive and violent ex’ au
  • ‘we’re contestants on a reality show and we kind of hate each other so the producers told us to pretend to be warring exes for the ratings so now we keep inventing crazier and crazier things the other did while we were dating’ au

braezenkitty:

if anyone’s still up… those of you who post serial fics, how often do you update? once a week? twice a week? every other week? sporadically?

It depends on how much I have done of the fic before I start posting. I’m impatient as hell so that usually means I have one, maybe two chapters finished before I start posting. If I have all or most of the fic done I’ll update once a week. That seems to be the most successful in terms of reader engagement, but if you fall behind you’re going to be playing catch-up to maintain the pace.

One chapter a month is probably the easiest to manage but you’re probably not going to get steady comments from the same readers. I try to manage two weeks maximum on my current project and it seems to be doing pretty well. It’s long enough that I have time to slack off a bit but not too long that I’ll forget or get lazy and lose readership.

One thing I don’t do is tell my audience what the update schedule is, whether or not I have one. I’ve talked to a few people and from what I can gather, readers are a little more okay with missing updates if they know the fic has a steady schedule than if they don’t know when it’s coming.

Alright finnreylo peeps I need your assistance. One of my current WIPs is wrapping up so I’m in the process of outlining/plotting my next project. I know what it’s gonna be, but I need a little help from you.

What are some AUs you’d like to see? Comment, reply, send asks, w/e you wanna do. Just let me know, what kind of stuff you think would be fun. Please be more general – like Mermaid AU rather than something like a prompt w/conflict and all that.

If I can pull it off this project should be fun but I’d like some community input before I get in too much further.
