The houses as…. Writers

emperor-oj:

Gryffindor:

  • the hemingway’s of the world
  • their writing is full of angst and personal experience
  • can often come across as anecdotic- they take what has happened to them and apply it to a broader spectrum
  • there is an underlying current of passion in everything they write
  • many late nights w/ coffee because they were suddenly inspired at 2am while nearly dreaming

Ravenclaw:

  • the fantasy writers
  • create whole worlds bc they aren’t satisfied with the one’s they are in
  • stories often make a statement on real world issues in a creative way
  • prefers to use a typewriter/hand-write their stories
  • shares their ideas with very few
  • almost never finishes a story bc they have so many half-finished ideas swirling in their heads

Slytherin:

  • the realistic writers
  • creates painfully authentic, multi-faceted characters with abundant flaws
  • their writings aren’t meant to teach a lesson; simply to share a story
  • draw inspiration from those around them; MAJOR people watchers
  • their writing is highly sophisticated and not easy to digest; you have to pay attention to every detail
  • prefer writing in the 3rd person; like to take an omnipotent view as a way of removing themselves from the piece
  • take great pride in their work and don’t reveal it until it’s at a standard that they approve of (and that bar is HIGH)

Hufflepuff:

  • the poets
  • a lot of YA authors are hufflepuff
  • create beautiful imagery in everything they write
  • their attention to detail is impeccable; they want to ensure that what they imagine is what the audience also envisions
  • their writing is raw with emotion and makes the reader feel for the characters
  • 1st person stories
  • very open/receptive to criticism; seeks out ways to improve upon their creation
  • their stories always have a moral that they want the world to know
  • everything they write is a piece of them

Fic writers who follow me! Do you have a fic for me to read? I want to make a summer reading list.

If nsfw I prefer bottom!Cas and I don’t read major character death. Otherwise I’m pretty open about tropes I think.

Maybe it wasn’t clear but self recs are very welcome! :3 Don’t be shy, I’m a friendly swamp monster~

Under the Surface is a pirate AU if you’re into that. Sexual content implied but it’s never stated who does what or how. (Other characters want to know but I kept it vague for a reason.) No one super important dies.

(Put Up or) Shut Up is plot-less bottom!Cas smut in a mvoie theater projection booth.

I definitely know how it goes. But I also have a grasp of your style at this point. I just don’t see how you could make me dislike it (unless it randomly turned into a proxy fic for Destiel). I can even handle MCD depending on how it’s done! To me, the most important part is that I care about what’s happening to the characters. And I definitely care.

Ha! Yeah… that’s not gonna happen….
Like, not to spoil but Cas and Balthazar are a thing and I’m not breaking that up. Also, Sam’s dragon cock. Like, I think the only time I will ever write a proxy fic is if Destiel was a proxy for another ship, like Calthazar or Megstiel or Denny or something.

What I would like to get done this month

  • Another chapter of The Dragon’s Keep
  • The last of the Follower Raffel fics and post them
  • The following squares on my polybingo
    EileenJessSam (who mows the lawn)
    AnnaDeanMichael (arranged marriage)
    DeanKetch KetchMary (cross couple)
    CasDeanJimmy (gendefluid character)
    CasDeanJImmy (magic AU)
    DonnaJodySam
    AliciaMaxSam (Shelter volunteers)
    AaronBennyDean (cooking classes)
    CasDeanIniasSam (shotgunning endverse?)
BillieCassieDean (If you have ideas for this one please tell me)
(Several of these are half done I just need to finish them and post)
  • More polybingo? If I have time?
  • One of the 400 follower fics (probs the wincestiel one bcause I’ve been thinking about that)

Important question: As a reader, which do you prefer –> Cas’ or Cas’s

Hmm, two people for Cas’s and three for Cas’. Plus academic feedback indicating it should be Cas’s. I’m even more torn now!

Tagging additional people for input: @destieldrabblesdaily @tenoko1 @wanderingcas @strengthcas @soupernabturel @livebloggingmydescentintomadness @procasdeanating + anyone else who wants to give input!

Either way is acceptable, so long as you stick with it. Personally, I was always taught adding the second ‘s’ was redundant and messy. Which I agree with, so I always use Cas’.

As a reader, I don’t care.  As a writer, I use Cas’ because I was taught that names ending with an S just need the s’ instead of the s’s.

Depending on which grammar rules you follow, either is correct. However, a lot of times, people tend to go with singular nouns with s’s, and plural with just s’. But technically, it doesn’t matter. Just use the one you like best.

I’ve looked it up, and yes both are technically correct. As long as you pick one and are consistent, you’re good 🙂

… That being said, I use Cas’ and it does always surprise me when I see Cas’s because like… why so many esses?

I was always taught that you only use s’ for plurals which is why I always use Cas’s. I don’t care either way really, it just throws me off for a second if I see Cas’.

I’m a huge derp.

I could have sworn there were a few bangs that were scheduled for the same timeframe so I held off on one to write for the other. Turns out that was wrong. Oh well. I guess I have more time for other fun and shorter things then. 🙂

what if magic was real but it was treated the way music is now with different genres and like “oh youre still into conjuring? thats cool I guess. recently ive been getting into third-wave post-necromancy, it’s some pretty heavy stuff”

“what do you mean you’ve never learned FIREBALL, it’s a CLASSIC”
“idk I’m not really into evocations.”
“how can you not be into ANY evocations?”
“well, it’s kind of dad magic, isn’t it?”

“i like a bit of everything except hedge wizardry and urban arcana”
