Okay so /that/ scene. No shit when I was in the theater I turned to my brother and went “oh no, he’s hot”. Which still stands. Kylo Ren is hot and has gorgeous hair.
Also I never noticed how loud this scene was before. Their force powers make different noises and the battle and overlap as Rey and Kylo partake in a literal mental battle. It’s really neat.
Charging Starkiller Base always reminds me of that scene in Megamind where Megamind shouts “the sun is warming up?!” Tell me you can’t see Hux saying the same thing. Go ahead, but I won’t believe you.
Everything about Han’s final scene kills me. It’s my favorite of the whole movie.
Kylo stops in the middle of the bridge. Han goes forward. One half step back as Han gets close and stops.
“Its too late”
“Come home with me”
“I’m being torn apart” (I need to make a decision. My conscience is killing me) “will you help me?”
“Yes. Anything.”
And for a moment, the music is lighter, a potential triumph in the melody and then. And then the light dies. It’s only darkness.
Kylo sticks the saber through Han’s chest. The music builds, dark and foreboding and then dies the second Han touches his son. It becomes soft and sad. Regretful.
But the deed is done.
Lightsaber fights! Lightsaber fights!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Finn and Kylo represent what the other fears in this point. (Finn want to run so the FO will never find or kill him. That’s Kylo here. Kylo on the other hand fears he is unworthy of any of his family’s legacy and here Finn is, some random dude, wielding his grandfather’s lightsaber.) Kylo wins over Finn because it validates Finn’s fear and it’s in spite of this fear that he should be brave. Kylo also losses in this fight, but because even if he can “win” he isn’t yet worthy of the legacy because he’s not on the right path.
On a way less serious note, Kylo fights dirty. He just fuckin’ punches people.
Also
“You need a teacher. I can show you the ways of the force”
“The force? Oh right I have that! Hang on I need a minute to tap into it.”
“Yeah no it’s cool. Take your time. I got nowhere to be.”
