Okay so DW apparently does not have the capability to import tumblr blogs. That’s okay. I’ll be using wordpress for that (and I’ll let you know where to find me after I finish it.)
Over the next few days I will be in the process of saving ficlets I haven’t posted to Ao3 to Ao3 and dreamwidth and (when it’s back up) pillowfort.

Irish doesn’t technically have the verb “to have”, so what you’re actually saying is “there is a sandwich to me” (or at me, or with me – basically insert a preposition there). agam is the preposition ag + the first person pronoun -m, so that’s the “to me”, and tá is “there is”. But yeah, the word order on eating etc can be confusing. I don’t have a way of explaining that one, although I’m sure there’s a very simple way of clarifying it if you actually understand it.
Basically the verb is still first in “have” because the verb is actually “there is” (tá) and it’s at the beginning like the others. The bit at the end isn’t a verb, it’s tricking you.

So I’m learning Irish on duolingo, right? That’s all well and good. Except Irish is one of those languages where some sentences get really confusing. What I’m understanding so far is that verbs come first, except in the case of “to have” (side note why is “to have” always an irregular verb?).
So if you wanna say “I eat a sandwich” you say (in Irish) “I eat a sandwich”. If you want to say “I have a sandwich” you say “I a sandwich have”.
So far so good.
Then you get shit like this:

Verb-first languages are going to give me a heart attack.
This is the song they played during the scene changes in my brother’s latest play (Why We Like Love Stories) and I’ve had part of it stuck in my head for the longest time. I finally broke down and asked him what it was called and he responded by telling me “yeah, I figured it was that funky banjo crap you’d be into. It’s my instagram song of the week.” So this is what it is. Good stuff, imo.

My second favorite Star Wars movie is Revenge of the Sith and I won’t apologize for that. It’s not a bad movie either technically or story wise and it’s a damn shame no one took Hayden Christensen seriously because the visual difference alone between Anakin and pre-suit Vader is amazing.
