Hello! My name is Shalee (though most of you might know me as Rose) and I need your help.
To start off, about three years ago my father was in a near-fatal motorcycle accident. He made a miraculous recovery, but the chaos and turmoil that resulted from it have really thrown me and my family through a loop. While he was in the hospital he was unable to bring in more than the temporary disability pay that his job provided. My mother suffers from chronic back pain, and her ability to work and care for my recovering father was severely limited. My own health wasn’t great at the time but since then it has only gotten worse and I am now unable to work or go to school because of it. For a period of about two years, my family was surviving on loans and the charity of extended family in order to pay our mortgage and other expenses.
Three years ago I was in college, well on my way to graduating with a double major in English and History but since then I’ve had to drop out of school and try to get my own health under control. The stress of my father’s accident, his subsequent job loss afterward, and his recovery has left me rattled and at this point I’m just trying to get my life together so that when I’m ready to go back to school I can do so unburdened by my own health.
I’ve had bad teeth since I was a teenager but recent stress has caused me to start grinding my teeth and several of them have broken. I have been able to go to the dentist and have arranged for oral surgery, which will take place on October 17, 2017. After the extractions, I will need a bridge to make up for my missing teeth. Insurance will pay for most of this, but there is a $500 cost for the temporary bridge (which will allow me to eat and carry on like normal for the six weeks that my jaw is healing and the permanent bridge is being made) that my insurance does not cover. I need the money by the time I get fitted for my partial, which will be on the 19th of October.
I would ask for help from extended family, but after the strain of the past few years, they don’t have anything left to give. I cannot work due to the pain caused by my dental issues and the mental health issues I’ve also been battling. Any possessions of worth have already been sold in the past three years to take care of my family.
I would really appreciate your help today. I hate asking for money and I’m frankly embarrassed about asking and revealing so much about myself and my situation. If I could do anything else, I would but I need this money so I can start on my journey to be a healthier person and get my life back on track.
My deepest thanks,
Rose.
