Some reminders for y’all (especially any newer members of fandom) as we reach the end of hellatus:

  1. Yes, it is actually normal for it to appear like the fandom has lost their mind.  This happens every year, and the insanity will cool down a bit shift over once we have new food.
  2. When that happens, more than half of what’s been tossed around all summer is going to be Jossed.  Most of the fandom will be happy with the plotline we are fed, some corners will not be.  Please be gracious and gentle no matter where you land.
  3. In the mean time, everyone’s temper is running short.  We’re all impatient, and some people are still hurt by how the last season ended.  Try not to take it out on each other.
  4. What people blog over hiatus is not always what they
    blog while the show is running.  You will find new blogs; you will find
    that some blogs don’t fit your tastes anymore.  Your media experience is under your control.

  5. If you don’t want spoilers on the night of the premier, now is the time to install either xkit or tumblr savior (which are linked) and learn how to use the blacklist function.
  6. You’ll still see spoilers if the people you’re following don’t tag their spoilers.
  7. Even if you avoid tumblr after an episode airs, spoilers may find you via other forms of social media, overly enthusiastic family members, coworkers, and strangers on the street.  I’m sorry.
  8. Everyone and their cousin will be liveblogging.  You will not be able to find anything while the show is airing live; just accept it, it’s part of the experience.
  9. There are two airings of the show on Thursdays; one for east coast, one for west coast.  If you are stateside you can watch on the cw website or app afterwards; if you are international, you may be able to watch legally on itunes or your local provider. 
  10. If none of those work for you, there are streaming websites that will let you watch live, or immediately after the episode finishes airing.  Ask around for links, they will be provided.  (And if you use this method, test the link before hand; nothing is more painful than having your feed glitch during an emotional scene)
  11. Last year the cw neglected to show the next week’s promo after the episode aired; tumblr, twitter, or youtube will have it for you.
  12. PR is not showrunning
  13. NO SERIOUSLY, PR IS NOT SHOWRUNNING.  Everything we have been told by the cast at cons or on social media, by the crew/writers on social media, everything we have been shown in the promo videos; all of this is taken out of context and presented to us in order to provoke excitement. 

    This is not what the show will be.

    Take all spoilers given by the cast with a grain of salt.  They’re frequently inaccurate.
