With Stores Flooded, Kosher Food Has Run Out in Houston

In addition to supermarkets and kosher restaurants (all of which have also been flooded), a number of Jewish families in the Houston area order kosher food via a co-op, meaning that together they place a bulk order every three months. They then store the food in a large freezer. The next order was set to arrive on Sept. 4; as of now, it doesn’t look like it will make it. All of this is taking place with Rosh Hashanah and the High Holidays fast approaching.

With Stores Flooded, Kosher Food Has Run Out in Houston

I meant to buy two turkey pot pies (shhh, making a pot pie for one is work) but I did not grab two turkey pot pies. I grabbed a turkey pot pie and a cherry mini pie. So instead of two dinners, I have dinner and dessert. 

I don’t know whether to be upset with myself or congratulate myself on the accidental pie acquisition. 

What is your favorite kind of fruit? Do you wear high heels? Do you have any set believes on the inherent morality or immorality of humankind on a whole? What are your opinions on clouds?

I like strawberries and mangos the best!

I do wear high heels. Not frequently enough to justify having 20 pairs, but I do wear them from time to time. 

In terms of humanity’s inherent morality/immorality, I tend to believe that humankind is about 51% moral and 49% immoral. Like, “moral” and “immoral” are such vague concepts but I generally think humankind wants to be better and wants to be moral but what’s “moral” is super dependent on where a person is in the world and in their lives. (Like, is it moral to punish a person for overkill if they kill in self-defense? I’d say no, but there are states that would disagree with me.) But like, humankind as a whole over the entire course of human history does seem to try to go forward and make things better for people, even if we backslide sometimes. So I’m pretty okay with saying we, as a whole are 51% moral. 

I love clouds. 🙂 I wish I got to see more of them on any given day, but I live in a desert so I see like one a day.
