Sorry for butting in, feel free to ignore me. Have you heard the theory, I think originally by ilostmyshoe-79, that Amelia was a hallucination and Sam was just crazy for a while? Or something like that. It’s my head canon for season 8 and makes the whole thing a lot easier to stomach.

Don’t ever feel bad for jumping in on a post when you have neat info like this!

I haven’t heard this but I actually like it. I would certainly explain the weird vaseline filter on all the flashback stuff.

Personally, I don’t fault Sam for falling apart in the time between season 7 and 8. He lost his brother, all his friends, his mentor, his kinda-sorta home away from home… like he was well and truely alone. That’s enough to break most people, let alone someone who had just come back from horrifying halluciantions. I don’t blame Sam for hiding, whether it was real or not.

I do however, blame the writers for not attempting to make it clearer that Sam was hurting and lost to the point that he either hallucinated or tried to find comfort in someone who was dealing with pretty much the same thing. I would have loved to see how broken and vulnerable Sam was but… we didn’t get that.

Charlie/Jo?

who’s the cuddler:  Totally Charlie. She’s a cuddle monster.
who makes the bed: Neither of them. The bed is only made when the landlord has to do inspections or fix the AC but even then it’s not likely.
who wakes up first: Charlie. Or, more accurately, Charlie does not go to sleep. She says up until the sun comes up. Or, that’s what Jo assumes, she’s usually asleep at night like a normal person.
who has the weird taste in music: Charlie really likes pop music or anything that’s upbeat. Jo listens to rock music, so neither of them has really “weird” taste in music.
who is more protective: Jo. She will fight you.
who sings in the shower: The both do, but Jo denies it. Charlie embraces it.
who cries during movies: Charlie. She’s a sensitive soul.
who spends the most while out shopping: Charlie, but she does most of her shopping online.
who kisses more roughly: Jo’s a little more aggressive.
who is more dominate: Jo. Charlie isn’t a push over by any means, but Jo is definitely more dominant.
gets jealous the most: Charlie, actually. She’s the first person to swing her arm around Jo’s shoulders and introduce herself as Jo’s girlfriend.
one headcanon I have: Charlie made the first move. She’s super confident when it comes to flirting with ladies and it completely floored Jo because she always thought of Charlie as a shy, easily frazzled girl.
nicknames:  Jo calls Charlie things like geek squad, your highness, and muffin butt (don’t ask). Charlie doesn’t use nicknames so much but has described Jo as the Gabrielle to her Xena.
my rating of the ship from 1-10: 9

L, P and U for the fanfic asks?

L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
It depends on how long the fic is. If it’s a one-shot I don’t really do much with it. If I’ve written it and it’s somewhat logical I’ll run it through a grammar checker so I don’t post any huge stupid mistakes and then post.
If it’s a fic chapter, well, that depends, too. A lot of the time I do the same thing I do with one-shots, especially if I’m tired and sick of it and just want to get it out there. That usually works pretty well as long as I have the main plot hammered down.
If it’s a bang fic I will revise it probably half a dozen times. I don’t usually sit down and comb through it all at once though, I’ll just go chapter by chapter and move things, add things, take things out, basically whatever I need to do to make the whole thing sharper.

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)
In this analogy, I would be a gardener. I hate pre-writing work. It always seems useless to me. Like, why do I need to outline everything and know all these character relationships before I write? Why can’t I just figure it out on my own while I go?
Most of the time I will have a few “tent poles”; things I want or need to hit while writing that facilitates the plot. I may jot down notes for what I think should happen or what I want to happen per chapter, but if I don’t it’s usually because something more interesting happened or the characters decided to react in a completely different way than I was expecting. Personally, I love that about writing. I love being surprised. I don’t enjoy having the whole thing planned out before I even start because then it feels like I’m just filling out a form and I’ll have no drive to actually do it.

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
Okay, let me see… hmmm… obviously I have a lot of favorites, but I’m going to suggest some multishippers who need more love because I know you’d like that. Also, like, these are pretty much just the last three authors in my history. If you’re not on the list its not because I don’t like your fic, it’s just that these are the last three I read. I can always give a more comprehensive list of people everyone should read (imo) later or if someone asks for it. These people do deserve to be read, though.

@maliciouslycreative AO3
Stacey is a good friend of mine and my usual beta. We usually wind up giving each other all kinds of bad ideas [read: amazing ideas we have no time for] when we talk and I know that Stacey has a few ideas I would die to read. There isn’t a whole lot on the ao3 ATM but everything I’ve read is fabulous. There is a buttload of minor character love in every fic, rare pairs everywhere in the background and forefront, and the dialogue is amazing. Also, Stacey is pretty bitter about what the show did to Ketch, so he’s probably gonna show up a lot in future fics. I’d suggest If You Ketch My Drift (Dean/Ketch) if you haven’t read it already because holy crap is it great. The dialogue is fun and wonderful and the stories these characters tell (particularly the princess puke story) make me so happy. It really feels like listening to a group of friends shoot the breeze with each other.

@bloodandcream AO3
I haven’t spoken with Chrissy much but I freaking love everything she writes. I just finished reading Lesbian Adjacent (Anna/Ruby) (and need to leave a comment today – don’t let me forget) and wow. Like, I just adore everything she’s written. I love the way she writes Meg, especially (because I fucking love Meg) and her femslash is out of this world. Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever read anything from her that I didn’t like. It’s all marvelous and the amount of fic she’s able to put out kinda blows my mind. Also, a lot of her stuff is pretty funny, too.

@dreamsfromthebunker AO3
So much Sam/Max! Unfortunately, I have not read all her stuff and I need to catch up on it (currently reading Almighty Aphrodite, which is Dean/Cas) but I know I will because her fic is fantastic.  There’s a good does of Sam in so many things and I love that because I need more Sam fics in my life. There’s so much to read, too so I’m fairly certain there’s something for everyone. I think the best thing is that even when these characters are in AUs, they feel like themselves and that’s always wonderful to see and sometimes hard to do.

Thanks!

Fan Fic Writer Questions

SamJess and/or DeanJo for the send a ship thing.

SamJess

who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter:
Sam is a werewolf and Jess is a hunter. He’s never killed a person but he believes he’s terrible and dangerous. She doesn’t but that at all.
who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman:
Jess is the mermaid and Sam’s the fisherman. (I love a classic.)
who’s the witch and who’s the familiar:
Jess is a witch. Sam is her really, really big familiar. (Not a moose but like, maybe a retriever.)
who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict:
Sam is a barista. Jess is a college student who’s trying really hard to keep her eyes open in the morning.
who’s the professor and who’s the TA:
Sam is Jess’s TA. It’s totally inappropriate that they have a relationship, but as long as no one finds out it’s fine (and that’s also half the fun).
who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)
Again, because I love a classic, Jess is the princess and Sam’s the knight.
who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent:
Sam is a single dad and Jess is his son’s teacher. He’s cute and flustered around her when they have parent-teacher conferences. She might call him to tell him about how well Adam is doing in class a little more than she calls other parents.
who’s the writer and who’s the editor:
Jess is the writer and Sam is the editor.

DeanJo

who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter:
Jo is totally a feisty werewolf. Dean doesn’t know until they’re hunting together on a full moon but he knows her and he won’t hurt her.
who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman:
Dean’s a mermaid and Jess is a fisherwoman. She tried to haul him out of the water when she saw him the first time because she thought he was drowning.
who’s the witch and who’s the familiar:
Witch!Jo and Familiar!Dean all the way.
who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict:
Jo is the barista who draws patterns into Dean’s cappuccino. He didn’t get she was flirting with him until she somehow managed to write “Do you like me or what?” in his foam.
who’s the professor and who’s the TA:
 Professor!Dean and TA!Jo.
who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss):
Dean is a prince and Jo is a knight who pretended to be a guy in order to become a knight. She’s so good she’s assigned to guard the prince.
who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent:
Again, single dad!Dean and teacher!Jo who Dean is very smitten with.
who’s the writer and who’s the editor:
Jo is a brutal editor but she’s the best in the business and Dean needs her. Boy, does he need her.

@fantasygeek replied to your post “For the Salty Asks: 14, 19, and 23?”

I want Ketch to be another Crowley! How he’s a bad guy at first but sticks around because he’s handy and eventually gets better and everyone gets attached. His character development last episode was one of the only redeeming thing imo (though the bad guy monologue at the end was just bad writing). Plus I kinda love dhj.

I have so many thoughts about Ketch. But nothing would make me happier.

Like, okay, he’s totally a bad guy and he enjoys what he does there’s no doubt about that, but there are things he says every once in a while that make me wonder. Things like referring to himself and Mick as “survivors” and that whole “other end of the blade” comment about torture.  Plus the look he gets sometimes, like after he killed Mick andthe way he looked at Mary when she was asking him to kill her. There’s something more going on there and I want t know if he can be an ally. It would, imo, be the best redemption arc. Afterall, this season has been all about “humans are the real monsters” and if Ketch can be redeemed who can’t?

The thing is, the way the BMoL arc is set up, you need a turncoat. You need someone who is going to take on the Old Men, take them out, and reorder the organization  otherwise you have the same problem. You can kill Toni, Ketch, and Hess, but you still have an entire organization ready to kill all American hunters and show no mercy towards monsters who just live peacefully. The organization needs to be reformed from the inside or completely destroyed without survivors, otherwise this will happen again. Ketch is currently the best hope they have for that. He’s the only BMoL member with a relationship with anyone who could change his mind. He’s the only one who’s had enough time to develop. If Toni becomes a turncoat it’s way too quick to mean anything. (imo)

The bond villain speech was so OOC. Ketch is efficient (brutal, but efficient) and leaving the Winchesters in a tomb long enough to find their way out of it is not efficient. That was just dumb.

But, I absolutely would not complain if Ketch became an ally and we got to keep DHJ. He’s percious and I love him.
