What’s the most underrated ship, in your opinion?

lol. This answer changes all the time, just depending on what I’m working on and how I’m feeling. BUT today I’m gonna say Sam/Jimmy in general but specifically in the context of winjimstiel.

I tend to write Jimmy very flirty and sensual and with a lot of mischief in his heart. He’s a lot of fun for me, and I think he’d be a lot of fun for Sam, too. He’s a bit of a line-pusher so I can see him really laying it on thick when he and Sam are in public (bonus points if Dean’s also around b/c we know what Jimmy would do to tease Sam.) Also, I like to think that Jimmy would be all over Sam and would enjoy the hell out of him taking control. Outside of that, I think they’d have a lot to give each other. Jimmy’s a free spirit and Sam’s more grounded.

The two could have a dynamic I’d love to explore a little more in all kinds of contexts. They’ve been on my mind a lot recently.

Thanks!

Ask me about ships!

I haven’t read nearly as much of your stuff as I should have so… Which fic are you most proud of? And just for fun if you want, I’ll be curious, why? I’ll start my reasing there. :) (If it’s a non-au Destiel though, I’m really, really, /really/sorry, but do you have a second?)

You know, I don’t think I actually write much that isn’t an AU… my rare pairs tend to be more canon!verse I think. Regardless –

The fic I’m most proud of is Some Things Last. It’s deanjimstiel, and was my entry for the DCJ bang this last year. Of all the fics I’ve written, it’s the most personal to me even though there isn’t a whole lot in it that’s based off my own life experience (some but not a lot). I will say that I project pretty hard onto Jimmy and there’s a lot more of me in him than there is of me in other characters. It’s the longest thing I’ve ever written at just over 60k. I really do think it’s my best fic, too. I have a few things I wish I did differently, but it’s what it is and I’m really damn happy with it. It’s angsty, funny, sweet, and parts of it make my heart ache. I don’t wanna ramble and say talk about what I think makes it really good because I don’t wanna sound like I have a big head or anything, but I do think one of the strengths with it is that there is a lot of varied emotion in it and everyone has their own issues they’re dealing with. I think I did a damn good job, if I do say so myself.

If that’s not really your speed, there are two other fics I’m also pretty proud of. They’re much shorter and very pwp but I liked them a lot. (I have a hard time finishing long fics, aparently.)

Four Can Play at That Game is winjimstiel and it’s so ridiculous. Like, it’s competitive sexting, so it can’t really get more silly than that imo. But I had a blast with it.

Bliss is also one I’m very happy with it. Early season wincest, no angst, just pwp and bottom!Dean. It was a surprise to me ‘cause I wrote it on a whim and it flowed really easily.

I think for a lot of women/people in the 25-35 age category, Xena was an early sign we weren’t straight. I remember realizing that I thought her and Callisto were attractive the way I was supposed to think Hercules was.

Yup. I definitely think you’re right. Like, I never thought Hercules was attractive at all. He was a strong dude but I was definitely not interested. I was a really odd kid though, and I always thought the scrawnier, bookish dudes were more interesting. And Xena. Xena was way nicer to look at in my young (like, idk? 6 or 7 year old) opinion.
It’s like one of those things where you recognize queerness in others before you recognize it in yourself or even have the right words for it.

I like this idea and would definately read it. My reasons for ships are usually emotional reactions and not anything I could express in a reason literary way though. I’m also frequently paranoid by disagreeing or saying I see something one way I inadvertently put down someone elses, which is never my intention.

I totally understand. I think “I just like it” is totally a valid reason for shipping something, honestly. I’m honestly less interested in an “I ship it because in episode 7 of season 8…blah blah blah” and more interested in what’s at the core of people’s understanding of that ship. Like for me, I have one question that’s “If you could describe your ship in one word, what would it be?” and I think that’s the most important question. I have several ships I could describe in one word, and I think that really heps me understand what the emphasis is on in a shipper’s mind.

Just so you know, I’m always okay with disagreement. Like, I may not change my mind, but I think disagreement is healthy and allows us all to see other people’s views. I have my own biases and opinions, but I don’t take anything too personally. Something may bug the fuck out of my and I may never understand it, but I don’t hold that against anyone. This first little questionarie is informal, but if enough people are interested I might throw it out there as an anonymous questionaire. Obvioulsy, it won’t be scientific or formal but I’m always interested in what people think and feel. And anonymous questionaries are good for allowing people to say what they want and need to without worrying about disagreement. So, I totally understand the concern.

Me too!!

The only thing that sucks is that we’ve got to wait a little over a year for it, too. Like, can we skip the “backdoor pilot” thing. I’m pretty sure given the fact that Kim and Brianna are excited about it and they’re introducing characters it’s a done deal. Just give me a season premier already!

J, K, and U?

J. Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Check, Please! I mean, it makes sense because I think it’s pretty much only on tumblr and twitter, but I had no idea what anyone was talking about when they reblogged zimbits stuff for almost a year. So eventually I got curious and checked it out. It’s about hockey and the main pairing is a canon m/m couple so that’s cool. It’s not 100% for me though. It’s cute but maybe a little too cute.
