Hmmmm. Dreamhunter Roller Derby AU

Claire and Kaia are rivals on opposing derby teams, but more than that, Kaia is convinced Claire hates her guts. She’s so damn aggressive on the rink, constantly seeking Kaia out, even when her team mates are definitely more of a threat. However, when Claire finally pushes too far and causes an accident that leaves Kaia with a broken ankle, she makes it her mission to look after Kaia and aid her recovery. Kaia finds that there’s more than meets the eye to this messy, angry person she’s forged a rivalry with, and maybe, just maybe, they don’t have to be enemies anymore.

Do you think Kaia would eventually learn how to walk into other worlds and dimensions through dreams? Do you think she could figure out a way to bring other people with her?

I ask because as cracky and impossible as it sounds…. I really just want Claire to see her father (and I mean her father, Jimmy) one more time. Some time way off in the future, after Kaia and Claire are together for a while, I want there to be a reason for them to walk into the afterlife. I want him to look at her as an adult and tell her how proud he is of her strength and determination, how sorry he is that he wasn’t there for her, and to tell her that she doesn’t have to be alone and it’s good to let other people care about you. And I want him to give her a hug and tell her that he loves her, that he’ll always love her, and that he’s glad she found a woman she loves the way he does her mother. 

Do you have any headcanons about Kaia and Claire? I still can’t get over them and how much I love them!

😀 Oh anon I totally do! And I’ve been thinking about them a lot, too. Here are some of my headcanons. 

Kaia obviously hates sleeping and avoids it as long as possible. It isn’t until she’s about to pass out that she lets herself fall asleep. Claire promises to watch over her while she sleeps. Kaia isn’t sure what she could actually do to help but somehow it kind of does? She still dream walks pretty often, but Claire is there to wake her up before it gets too bad. 

The have breakfast together a lot. Of course, it’s never at proper breakfast time because Kaia’s sleep schedule is totally screwed and Claire tends to come back from hunts in the middle of the night but it’s never to late/early for waffles. 

Claire has four different leather jackets hanging in her closet. Kaia “borrowed” one because it was a little too cold for just her hoodie and thought Claire noticed she didn’t say anything. (And yeah, it smells like Claire’s perfume so maybe Kaia wears it a little more often than just when it’s cold out.) 

Claire is a french fry stealer but she only does it when she knows Kaia is paying attention b/c she wants a reaction more than anything. Kaia frowns and Claire just smirks at her. 

Their first kiss is completely on accident. Claire is leaving and they both go in for a hug at the wrong angle and they wind up brushing lips. Claire is actually the one who stutters and fumbles a bit and apologizes all over.

OMG I ship it so very very hard.

Same. Hard same. It’s got a lot of potential as a ship and Claire and Kaia are pretty adorable together. I love it. 

Also. Angst potential. Like, I like the idea of Claire dreaming about Kaia and not knowing if it’s really her or if she’s just dreaming. That could be fun to play with in fic.
