Not even a little bit. You’re an amazing writer! You’ve got this *waves pom poms*
Thank you.
I’m feeling a little better currently. I was feeling like total shit earlier in the day but I’m okay now. Just frustrated with things.

YOU ARE NOT PATHETIC. YOU’RE AMAZING, SKILLFUL, TALENTED, NICE, AMAZING, AWESOME, SUPERB, SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS, AND MY PILE OF WORDS IS SOIL THAT DWARFS BEFORE YOUR GREEK MARBLE STATUE OF WRITING AND YES I’M STILL SHOUTING
You’re a sweetie. Thank you.

no you are not *HUGS*

I think for a lot of women/people in the 25-35 age category, Xena was an early sign we weren’t straight. I remember realizing that I thought her and Callisto were attractive the way I was supposed to think Hercules was.
Yup. I definitely think you’re right. Like, I never thought Hercules was attractive at all. He was a strong dude but I was definitely not interested. I was a really odd kid though, and I always thought the scrawnier, bookish dudes were more interesting. And Xena. Xena was way nicer to look at in my young (like, idk? 6 or 7 year old) opinion.
It’s like one of those things where you recognize queerness in others before you recognize it in yourself or even have the right words for it.

*hugs* we kinda lucked out I didn’t like my fil from the first time I met him…and the day before we got married my mil found out he’d been cheating for years when his girlfriend called the house and said, “he said he’d leave you and hasn’t some I’m dumping him and I thought you should know.” She filed for divorce less than two weeks later. So cutting him out and keeping my mil (who is awssome) was pretty easy.
*hugs* My mom has nearly divorced my dad at least twice. The first time was because he was cheating and the second was because his drinking was out of control. They worked it out the first time because my mom was pregnant and the second time he wound up in the hospital after a near fatal car accident. He’s in therapy, they’re in couples counseling, he’s also in anger management…
I dunno, I feel like he probably won’t change his mind or behaviors but I could always be wrong. I never thought he’d stop drinking, but he’s been sober for 3 years. Though, the first time he apologizes I’ll probably drop dead of a heart attack.
I’m glad your MIL dumped your FIL and that you all can be happy without him, though. It’s definitely easier that way.
Her grandma was funny. Lisa was out to her parents but not her grandma (her only surviving grand parent, and I had none) when we started dating. So for the first couple months when Shirley would come over we were like, “just my gal pal visiting from NYC!” (We were long distance then) and finally after maybe six months Shirley was just like…you know I know you’re dating right? And she did struggle with it but she really tried, it was sweet to watch. I was really sad
Awh! She sounds like she was nice. And I’m glad she tried, too, even if she struggled with it. I’m sorry about her passing.
gabby/xena was the first same sex couple i ever shipped. i loved those two.
Same. I think I was shipping it before I understood what shipping was.

Lmao. (My mom introduced ME to Logo…) my wife’s family is a little more like what you’re describing, hee mom is very supportive but it was clearly a learning process, and we think homophobia is part of why her dad became an even being jerk than he used to be (we haven’t spoken to him at all in almost a year, and for a year plus before that only in passing…hes met the potato once for two minutes when we accidentally encountered him in a convenience store – he lives
About 15 minutes from us)
My dad is… not a super pleasant person. Like, I’ve heard him say that the only thing he could disown his kids for is if they were gay. So, ya know, ax murder is fine but not attraction to the same gender. (Obviously, I’m not out.) Our relationship is complicated, to say the least.
I can see myself not speaking to him for the rest of my life but that would make my relationships with my brothers and mom difficult as well. But he’s in therapy now so who knows. Maybe someday I’ll tell him and he’ll realize that being a huge dick about it won’t help him.
I’m sorry to hear about your wife’s dad though. He sounds unpleasant, though, so he’s misisng out way more than either of you are.
Convos like this remind me how fricken lucky I am. I watched Xena with my mom and we both assumed Gabby and Xena were a couple. We both got pissed whenever forced heteronormative romance was shoved toward either character…
My mom has been getting a little bit better, so that’s good at least. I think a lot of it had to do with my cousin coming out as a lesbian and marrying a bi lady. She’s not nearly as bad as my grandmother who keeps wondering “why they have to make everything gay” or “why everyone keeps changing genders”. Which, in those situations, I’m glad my mom is around because she says things like “because people are gay/trans, mom”.
Of course, when they announce a reboot of Xena and said the two would be lovers my mom didn’t understand why they had to make two “best friends” lovers. Explaining it all to her is an exercise in patience.
It’s just funny, sometimes, watching things with my mom because while it doesn’t bother her she just doesn’t see things the way I do. And it’s frustrating because she’s not incapable of seeing other subtle character things in television, she just has this one blind spot.
Dad is less understanding but it’s fun to watch him squirm when I put LOGO on so I ignore it and get my kicks where I can.
