I so feel you when it comes to that last bit, so many rare ships and polyships, so little time to explore ‘em all. Speaking of though, in the same line of questioning, what are some rare pairs that you wouldn’t necessarily want to write yourself for some reason but would love and totally jump at the chance to read/see more of/etc.?

Hmmm. That’s a good question. For me, it’s not that I don’t want to write them, it’s just that I want to read them. 

I’d love to see more winjimstiel, alicia/sam/max, dean/ketch/abaddon, sam/max. sam/jimmy, rowena/abaddon, charlie/alicia, and dean/michael. They’re all ships I’d write but I’d also like to read them.

I agree on all. And see that’s why the jealousy could still be seen as platonic. Balthazar and Dean are similar enough for Balthazar to fill a similar friendship role. The show has it so that Cas had nobody other than Sam and Dean. So even though they treat him like crap sometimes it’s a given he’ll be back. If he had a friend like Balthazar suddenly the dynamic changes.

Yeah, one of my biggest complaints about the set up of the show is that no one really has any friends. Sam, Dean, Cas, none of ‘em have any friends that aren’t each other. Sure, Jody’s around but their relationship with here is more of a mom-friend thing (she’s only like 4 years older than Dean, I think), so it’s a bit of an odd relationship. But I’m definitely in support of everyone having more friendships, dang it! Also, it’d be nice for Cas to have his one angel friend who didn’t try to screw him over back,
yeah? Yeah. (Esp if the show is going to continue to fall on it’s face and show shitty friendships/people taking advantage of each other/people lying and arguing with each other all the damn time.)

I love balthazar too but he doesnt fare too well in the story. 😦 its necessary but at the same time…. *sob*

I trust your writing. I’m a little curious about what you’re planning, now, but if you saw it’s necessary I believe you. Also, you have more guts than I do ‘cause I was supposed to kill him in UtS and I just couldn’t do it.

YAS I love all of these ships! I WILL DEFEND BALTHAZAR TO THE DEATH! He was an awesome character and a real friend to Cas and he gets such SHIT in fic and I don’t know whyyyyyyy

It frustrates me to no end that Balthazar gets so much shit! He was a good character! He cared! 

Maybe it’s because there aren’t a whole lot of male characters to make a bad ex for Cas? I mean, I kinda disagree with that but when it comes to exes in shippy fic Balthazar seems to be the go-to. (even though there are so freaking many angels….) 

Balthazar is my second favorite angel and I will steal him and keep him for my own if I have to.

Balthazar fans UNITE! There was sooo much unstated history between Cas and Balthazar! And think of all the jealous!Dean scenes we could have gotten if Balthazar had stuck around

lol. See, I’d say I’d give my left buttcheek for some explination of their history but it will probably never be as good as it is in my head. Guess I’m just gonna have to write some stuff someday. (I have some theories as to what happened and why.)
You know what’s funny about Dean and Balthazar? They’re a lot alike. They’re both kinda flippant assholes (Dean can definitely be an asshole) who enjoy sex and drinking and are sarcastic as all hell. I would love to see them just not get along until eventually, they do.
