Writing Behind the Scenes is designed for writers to talk about the details of how they write. Writers have many ways they go about their work, and a compelling case can be made for most any method of world-building, drafting, revising, editing, etc.

How does this work?

Send us an ask with your writing-related question and our group of experienced authors will answer with what works for them.

Anything I shouldn’t ask?

1. Questions about very specific situations will not be answered. There are too many variables involved and without knowing you personally it’s very difficult to give good advice.

2. Research for your fic. The point of this Q&A is to talk about general writing mechanics so that you can put them into practice across all of your work.

3. Questions that require our authors to delve deeper into their personal lives than they’d like. That line is different for everyone, so this is up to the discretion of each of our authors.

If you aren’t sure, go ahead and send the ask, but if it meets one of these criteria I’ll send it back to you privately with a note. – @tellthenight

How often will you post this Q&A?

Depends on how many questions we’re asked. Right now we’re planning to post once a week on Fridays, but we’ll consider posting more frequently if we get a lot of asks.

What if I have a lot of questions?

We would appreciate it if you send in one question per ask. Send as many asks as you want!

Can I ask on anon?

Definitely. If that makes it easier to ask the question use anon. But, please know that none of the usernames behind the questions will be used. So if you send it under your url the only people who will know who sent the question are the WWM mods.

If you have any other questions about how this works, just let us know. Submit your questions and watch for them to show up every Friday.

fanficdoc:

We are looking for a few more amazing fanfiction writers to feature in our documentary Fanfic: The Documentary!

Are you a male fanfic writer? Want to talk about why you love writing fic? Whether you’re cis or trans, we want to hear from you!!

Our documentary is very female right now! We want to represent as wide a range of writers as we can.

Get in touch with us at ficwriters@fanficdoc.com.

If you aren’t a male fic writer, but want to help us spread the word and make our doc as good as it can possibly be, please share!

Week 6: Destiel AUs

Time to get out your coffee shop, soulmate, high school, college, or WHATEVER au you may have to submit for this week! Any AU goes – and any genre of fic goes, whether it be angst, fluff, or anything in between. As long as it has our two favorite emotionally-stunted idiots getting together in a fic that’s set in a place that’s not the Supernatural universe, it fits this week’s theme perfectly!

• Submit the story you want me to feature through my submission page. NOTE: If you submit your fic to me through my private messages I will not be able to keep track of them, and your fic has a high chance of not being featured! PLEASE submit through my submission page ONLY!

• Make sure to carefully read the submission guidelines about what and how to submit!

• The deadline to submit this is Wednesday July 19th @ 11 PM CST. If you submit anything after that, I won’t be able to include it in the post, that’s going to be published on July 20th!

• Please make sure that you are submitting to me the link of an already posted fic, not the fic itself.

Happy writing and submitting, my friends! 🙂 Check out future themes on the schedule here.

Hey guys, tomorrow is the last day to submit your AU fics! Submit away!!

Only 5 hours left! Signal boost and submit your fics!
