Huh, this could be fun.

Sam’s room in the Bunker has never really been made his space. Unlike Dean, he hasn’t put anything up on the walls…

Sam doesn’t decorate his walls because Jess was an artist and she used to decorate their walls with her original art. Sam just doesn’t feel right hanging anything on his walls, because what if something happens and he has to leave it all behind? His space is utilitarian because all it needs to do is provide him with a place to sleep and change clothes.

Sam does, however, have a special box under his bed, almost like a hope chest. It’s about the size of a cigar box and he keeps things from cases or people he’s met. Inside this box are some of Dean’s old jewelry, one of Bobby’s trucker hats, a charm bracelet Madison wore, ticket stubs from a movie he and Jess went to (they were still in his jeans when their place burnt down and it was just luck he still had them) the ugliest postcard he’s ever seen (Arizona if you’re curious), and a menu from the best bar and grill Sam and Dean ever visited (New Jersey, believe it or not). This box goes in the bottom of his duffle bag every single time he and Dean go on a hunt because he never knows if he’ll be able to go back to the bunker, but he’s got his most precious possessions with him everywhere.

I don’t know it for certain, I just know it’s true.

16 and 22?

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
Just one thing? lol. Obviously, I’d stop the fridging of minor characters for no good reason. Look, I totally get that sometimes characters die and for good reason. Jo and Ellen died a hero’s death worthy of their characters if you ask me. Bobby’s death was impactful (he got a whole damn episode to die). Even Benny’s death, I can forgive, because you could kinda tell that he was feeling lost and alone and his death proved that he’d been good all along (I swear I thought he was going to be Dean’s Ruby). But there are other deaths I can’t forgive or look past (Billie, Charlie, Eileen, Bela, etc etc). I get that characters die and that’s fine, but what bugs me is the way they die. They’re pawns and I hate that. It wouldn’t kill the show to just have these characters live a life separate from the Winchesters only to show up every once in a while, and if the show didn’t have a history of killing off all of Sam, Dean, and Cas’s friends for no good reason (plot w/out deep impact is not a good reason) I’d probably handle it better, but it frustrates me to no end is that it happens so often. If you don’t know what to do with a character you can just make something up and leave them alone. (Like, you know, how Claire and Alex went to a Radiohead concert so they weren’t in an ep. See how easy that is spn? Wow.)
Here’s a hint, show, having a cast of recurring characters isn’t a bad thing. You can add to the world and make the show more fun the more characters you have. Wow.
22. Popular character you hate?
Gabriel.
I know! I know! Look, Gabe is fine he’s just not really my favorite. He’s just meh. I get that he’s usually the wild, fun, party guy in fics and that’s totally fine but I’m just not a fan. I don’t really care for him.

Thanks!

7. On salty asks…

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?
Meta. (This is gonna get me some shit, I know it.)
I really used to enjoy meta, and to some extent I still do, but I feel like the meta I like now discusses previous seasons and character development over time. I used to enjoy meta that was speculative, things that discussed what might happen and why, but these days that kind of thing irritates me to no end. Like, it’s one thing to speculate and talk about what you want to happen, that’s totally fine, but I feel like spn has let me down a few too many times in terms of me being able to see a cool plot that could come out of the stuff they’ve laid out only to lose their minds and pull something out of their asses last minute and not follow through with something that would’ve made more sense with the story threads.
Not only that, but spec meta is usually pretty ship focused and I’ve read the phrase “ship what you want but I don’t see it” way too many times. Like, sure, it’s okay that you don’t see it, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there *cough cough* gothic themes of seasons 1&2 leading to an interpretation of a certain ship *cough cough*.
I don’t have anything against people who write and enjoy meta, that’s fine. We all engage with fandom in our own ways and if it make you happy and you’re not being a dick, have fun with it. I’ve just fallen out of love with it. I’d rather discuss themes of family sins in early season or hints of mental illness in characters than speculation. That’s just me though. Everyone is allowed to enjoy the show as they will.

Thanks!

Salty Fandom – 5, 6, 20?

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
Not a pairing, no. I tend to ignore most people who run spread their crap but I have to admit there certain trends in certain ships that drive me insane. Like, the way Balthazar and Meg and Jo are treated in some Destiel fics drives me nuts. I tend to go the opposite way, however, and ship those pairings harder when I see Meg or Balth or Jo treated as the asshole ex.
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
I haven’t ever *hated* a ship but fandom has definitely made me fonder of Wincest. I think a lot of that has to do with becoming friends with people who ship it getting away from the small minority of assholes who are vicious about their ship and their interpretation of canon events. Early run-ins with those kinds of jerks doesn’t do good things for anyone, but I’m glad I made friends with nicer people.
20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?
“Pure” is a big ol’ loaded term for me. Like, nothing in this fandom is “pure”. This is a show about professional murderers who just happen to be on the right side of the equation 92% of the time.
All that aside, though, Saileen is a very good and sweet ship imo. Sam and Eileen are both badasses but they can be super sweet together and I enjoy that.

Thanks!

18 and 36?

18: Talk about something that happened in elementary school.
I had my first panic attack in elementary school. I was seven at the time and my teacher (the adult in the situation, mind) told me to knock it off and threatened to hit me if I didn’t stop crying. Eventually, when I finally told my mom and she got the principal involved, this teacher had the audacity to say that she’d done the right thing, because if I was going to start throwing a fit in her class I needed a little tough love. She was so fired after that.

Of course, I was seven and didn’t have the words to describe what I had been going through so while the terrible teacher was fired no one ever thought that I might need to see a therapist or a counselor or something like that.

36: Talk about your guilty pleasures.
Does fan fic count? I dunno, I don’t have a lot of “guilty” pleasures or indulgences, but the usual ones are on my list. Chocolate, overpriced coffee drinks, goldfish crackers, stuff like that are probably on my list.

Talk to me about stuff!

#8 and #35

8: Talk about the thing you are most proud of.
I already answered this one, but I’m gonna say another thing. I just recently put some finishing touches on my DCJ BB and it’s the longest thing I’ve ever written. I’m so proud of myself for accomplishing it and writing 60k of it in just a few months. I’m really freaking excited about posting it.

35: Talk about things you wish you could stop doing.
Stressing myself out. I’m an anxious person as it is, so it just takes a couple of little things or one big thing to turn me into a ball of stress. I hate it, but I don’t seem to know what “balance” means.

Talk about stuff with me!

For the “talk about” thing…9 and 34?

9: Talk about little things on your body that you like the most.
My eyes. I love my eyes. They’re a really pretty brown but I’ve got that gold ring around the pupil sometimes. It’s a lot more noticeable in the light, though. Also, my eyelashes are really long and I like that, too.

34: Talk about the worst physical pain you’ve endured.
I have PCOS so my periods are the worst. There were times when I couldn’t sleep and would just stay up all night crying. I’ve broken bones, had concussions, and accidentally split my foot open before, but my periods are far worse than anything else.

Thanks!

Talk about stuff with me!

8 and 11? ;)

8: Talk about the thing you are most proud of.
This is a hard one because honestly, I don’t really have a lot that I’m really proud of at this point in my life. I think, if I had to pick something I’d guess I’d say that I’m proud I’m trying to be more myself. For most of my life I’ve repressed and ignored things about myself in favor of what I think I “should” do, so now that I’m trying

11: Talk about the best dream you’ve ever had.
I have no idea. I don’t usually remember my dreams too often. I dream about dinosaurs eating everyone a whole lot, though. I dunno what the hell that means though.

Talk to me about stuff!

5 and 25?

5: Talk about the best birthday you’ve had.
Hmmm. I don’t actually do much for my birthdays, honestly. We kinda do the same thing every year, meaning that I get Starbucks, I have lasagne and cheesecake for desert and then fall into a food coma while watching TV.

When I was younger, I used to have Halloween parties after my birthday (because my birthday is in September but I will seriously wait a whole month just to invite a ton of people over for Halloween).

Oh! Okay, here’s one. This is also my most embarrassing drunk story (which should say something about how often I actually drink). Okay, so for my 22nd birthday a couple of my friends decided to take me out because I was the oldest of that group and they’d all recently turned 21. So, we start by going to my friend’s sister’s place (this girl I’ve ever met), right and that’s when I find out my friend (who I am very attracted to) is an identical twin. (Yeah, I’m sure some of you know where this is going…)

Anyway, we all go out, by bestie learns that she hates cinnamon whiskey, we all get pleasantly tipsy. So, me being the idiot that I am, I start hitting on my friend, who doesn’t know I’m bi, so she just kinda laughs it off and tells me I need to drink more water. Then I start hitting on my friend’s twin, who has a girlfriend. And somehow, somewhere along the way I’m hitting on them both at the same time. They turned me down, of course, and I looked like an idiot and I laugh it off as me not knowing what I was thinking or saying so there was no harm, no foul. I did eventually tell my friend I was bi and she never brought up the time I insinuated I wanted to sleep with her and her sister, so she either forgot or pretended to forget and we have never spoken about it since. So, not by “best” birthday but certainly one of the most memorable.

25: Talk about an ex-best friend.
I have a friend who isn’t my best friend anymore but we’re still good friends. We were co-captains of the debate team in high school, student government leaders, AP kids (but also kind of underachievers in an odd way. Like, we did homework and aced tests and essays but we never did them before last minute and felt C’s were fine on homework and stuff). She moved away for college and is trying to get into law school right now. She’s a bad ass, too. (She’s like 6 feet tall, wears heels and can run in them and knows Krav Maga.)

Talk about things with me!
