17 & 23 pls :)

17) if you could give your fledgling author self any advice, what would it be?
Trust your own damn instincts, kid. I used to listen to everyone else when it came to my writing and boy did I suffer for it. I was good but my writing lacked heart and I was always unhappy with it in the end.

23) any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing?
Well, for one, I was a terrible speller as a kid so I had to learn to describe things if I wanted to write stories. My imagination was way ahead of my vocabulary and spelling skills, but it kinda worked out.
Also, I have a strange knack for accidentally wandering into situations where people are having public sex. That’s definitely found it’s way into my writing.

Thanks!

1,3,4 and 9 for the get to know the author

1) is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason?
Oh god, are there ever. I’m so behind on writing things and I have approximately a million things I need to do so I haven’t written some of the things on my back burner.
I have one serial killer AU I want to do, a DCJ idea I’m saving for the big bang, and an original fiction thing I want to do but my lack of motivation and time is a bitch.

3) what order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?
I usually write front to back. Sometimes when I’m stuck I jump around but most of the time I try to be linear. It’s tough, but that’s what I feel like I should do most of the time.

4) favorite character you’ve written
Dean. Totally Dean. Jimmy’s a close second though.

9) what, if anything, do you do for inspiration?
It depends. Sometimes I just talk to people and throw ideas around in an attempt to get something flowing. Sometimes music helps. Music is usually my go-to for tough scenes though.

Thanks!

Ask me writer-y things!

haha! this thing is making the rounds now! first me, then deadlyangelkay, then jhoom and now you! how about 15 and 16?

15) why did you start writing?
As cheesy as it sounds, I started writing because I had stories to tell and I wouldn’t be happy until I wrote them. I’ve always wanted to write even before I actually could, so it was just natural. It’s like it’s in my blood.

16) are there any characters who haunt you?
Haunt me as in they won’t leave me alone? Sure. If the character really wants their story told them won’t leave me alone until I write something. It’s a little annoying but easily fixable.

Thanks!

Ketch-22 ;-) (sorry, I think it’s a nice wordplay)

Hitman AU, I think.

Arthur Ketch is a hitman. He’s a good hitman and he’s never had any qualms about it, no matter how sketchy his clientele tends to be. That it, until he’s ordered to carry out a hit on Sam and Dean Winchester, the sons of his off-and-on partner, Mary.

He could refuse, but then someone else will take up the hit. Now, he’s caught between a rock and a hard place, risking blowing his secret and putting the only people he’s come to consider close to family in danger, or screwing it all up entirely. Of course, that’s before he learns that the Winchesters have secrets of their own.

“Cross stitched flowers”

The Campbell family quilt was a tradition passed down from mother to daughter as far back as anyone could remember. Their quilting was a way to tell the stories of their lives, of their families, of who they are.

When Mary died in a house fire, it was assumed that her quilt and her tradition died with her. That was until, upon their father’s death, Dean and Sam discovered their mother’s quilt in a hope chest their father kept in storage. Now, Sam and Dean learn to carry on the family tradition, learning about the legacy their mother left them and adding to their own through the people they love, the people they lose, and the families they make both together and apart.

Fic title: Caught in the Undertow

Sastiel AU with selkie!Cas.

Sam has been apprehensive about the ocean since the tragic storm that killed his wife all those years ago. Most days, he stays ashore, assisting the fishermen who come to the docks by carrying their loads and doing maintenance on their ships. That is, until one day when he finds a man, naked, wandering the beach, lost and alone. The man doesn’t speak, and Sam decides to take him in and care for him. He and his mute companion form a friendship and over the years he learns that his companion is much less human than he originally thought and together they must regain Cas’s skin from the woman who stole it (going with April, here). But once Cas has his skin, will Sam have the heart to let him go after all these years?

Made up fic title: “100% organic”

I have two for this one.

One is a crack fic in which Dean is cursed by a witch and has to eat 100% organic foods from then on out. He complains the whole time. Sam thinks it’s hilarious.

The second is a Dean/Benny AU. Benny comes home from the war to find his wife has left him and his home has burnt down. As a last resort, he agrees to work as a farmhand on the Winchester farm. It’s all well and good until he meets Dean, the oldest Winchester boy, who is home for the summer. He tries to keep his infatuation, and later desire for the Winchester boy under wraps, lest he endure the wrath of Dean’s overprotective father and lose the last prospect he has.

I’m gonna go full on cheesy here “Cornered by Love” :D

Hmmm. This one is hard.

All I can think of is like, a cops and robbers AU in which Dean’s a criminal and either Cas or Victor is a cop who catches him. Little does Victor/Cas know that Dean is actually a crucial witness in a case against the biggest crime ring in town and throwing him behind bars is not an option. Now, Dean and his cop buddy must take down the crime ring and Cas/Victor must figure out how not to fall for the wise cracking con.

Ketch and Release

Spy AU in which Dean Winchester and Arthur Ketch are spies for rival organizations, competing to get the information and eliminate their targets before the other. In a twist of fate, the two of them wind up allied when Dean saves Ketch’s life (by accident) and they both discover it’s for the best they work together to take down an even more dangerous force. Working together is awkward and they find themselves conflicted about the other man. But when push comes to shove, will they actually have the other’s back or would they be willing to sell out their accidental partner for their own gain?
