11 and 16? 💜

11) what aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing?

I’m honestly not sure. I’ve always been writing so I guess everything?
I will say though, that since I got into writing fan fiction I’ve gotten better at getting inside the heads of characters. I think I’ve gotten better at writing and creating the world through their eyes and showing that to my readers, which is good because I think that’s one way to develop characterization that’s not always talked about and it can be really useful.

16) are there any characters who haunt you?

So, I answered this but I think I should elaborate, I guess. I have two “types” but there’s a lot of overlap between the kinds of characters that run around in my head and encourage me to write stuff. They’re either unappologetically promiscuous, secretly insecure jokers with big hearts and an abundance of sass or they’re aesthetic assholes who’ve probably killed a bunch of people but hide a deep inner sadness and desperately crave affection. Those are the kinds of characters that keep me up at night.

Thanks!

16) are there any characters who haunt you?

Oh, yes, frequently. Whenever I get really interested in a new AU (whether it’s my own or someone else’s) there’s always at least one character who I just want to spend time with. Like I just want to get inside their heads and see how things are working and what they’re thinking. And basically anyone who qualifies as one of my favorite characters will haunt me.

21) what do you think when you read over your older work?

Honestly, I’m usually pretty okay with it. Sure, I see things that I could do better or things I wish I could change but for the most part I have good feelings about my old stuff. I wouldn’t be the writer I am now if I wasn’t the writer I was then so I don’t think there’s any point in beating myself up for learning and growing.

For the ask game: 1, 20, and 22 please :)

1) is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason?

Oh boy, is there ever. Currently I have like three fics I’d love to write but I have to finish what I’ve already started first. They’re a different fandom, too, so that’s making me a wee bit nervous. Two of them are currently outlined, though, so I’m hoping that satisfies me for a while.

20) do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts?

I try to do both. On days that I’m on fire I can sit down for a few hours and just write. Usually I’ll forget to eat when I do that. Recently I’ve been doing more of the short spurt things which is a little frustrating.

22) are there any subjects that make you uncomfortable to write?

You know, I’m not sure. I’ve never really tried writing some things that I think might make me uncomfortable, like abuse from the pov of the abuser, so I’m not sure.
When I was writing Angel Lust I was a little… I was more surprised at how not uncomfortable I was while writing it. I expected to me more squirmy with my own writing but I just kind of got into a different mindset, you know? It was outside myself, if that makes sense, so I was more shocked that I was able to do it. I don’t know for sure if that’s something I could do with other topics or not, though.

Thanks!

For your ask game – something sastiel related?

I don’t know for certain, but I know it’s probably true that…

  • When Cas is inebriated (whether through drink or cold medicine or magic) he asks to braid Sam’s hair.
  • Couples yoga is a thing.
  • Neither of them are very good at not leaving their socks everywhere. Sure, pants and shirts go in the hamper but socks? Nope. Socks wind up under the bed, in the couch cushions, basically everywhere.
  • Very limber and kinky sex happens a lot.
  • They’re switches.
  • Sam has nightmares a lot. Cas offers to soothe them away but Sam is insistent that he deal with them when he wakes up. He wants to practice a few coping exercises he’s picked up over the years so Cas helps him through them.
  • When they both have trouble sleeping, Sam takes them to a little coffee shop a few towns over. It’s more of a truck stop than an actual coffee shop but their hot cocoa is to die for and it’s one of Sam’s favorite indulgences.
  • When they’re fighting they don’t speak to each other. They can spend days avoiding each other and simmering. It’s tense for everyone.
  • When they make up they’re all smiles and easy affection. It’s a little sappy.
  • They’re currently in the process of writing the correct version of their own lives. They’re not sure if anyone is ever going to read it, but they want the truth to be written down somewhere. It’s both a fun and painful process for both of them, but facing the good and the bad is good.
  • Sam once thought it would be a good idea to take Cas to play a game of paint ball. It was not a good idea.
  • No, seriously, Sam still has a welt on his ass.
  • Cas apologized for that welt very, very thoroughly.
  • The first time Sam saw a physical manifestation of Cas’s wings he didn’t know what to do with himself. He was excited and curious and scared and horny and a whole bunch of other things. Cas was concerned he’d broken him.

I don’t know it for certain, but I know it’s probably true

For your ship asks: #1, 10, & 23 please!

1. What’s your favorite non-canon ship?
That’s a tough one b/c most of my ships aren’t canon. For spn it’s probably Destiel, still. You probably wouldn’t be able to tell based off what I’ve written recently but it’s still one of my favorites.

10. Is there a ship that makes your skin crawl?
Nope. Honestly I don’t think there are any ships that I have that much of a reaction to.

23. Have you ever started shipping a ship because of the fans?
Friends of mine are really good about getting me to ship things I hadn’t considered before (b/c to me shipping is all about exploring character dynamics) so kind of, I suppose.

Thanks!

3, 4, 23!

3. What is the rarest pair (that you personally ship)?
Sam/Jimmy probably? Or maybe Jody/Jimmy? I think those two are probably the rarest ships I have. I don’t think I could name 5 people who like those two.

4. Name a popular ship that you don’t get the appeal of.
Hmmmm. Honestly I don’t think I can. I don’t tink there’s a single ship I can think of that makes me go “why?” b/c if it makes me go “why?” I try to figure it out. I suppose I can see the appeal of pretty much any ship, even if I’m not personally into it.

I guess if I had to pick something, I’d say any ship with Lucifer in it (even though those aren’t really *popular* ships). He just doesn’t appeal to me as a character and when I’m shipping I either have to like both characters or hate them and want them as miserable as possible. Obviously I don’t have issues with anyone who does like Lucifer ships, but I just don’t really *get* it, if that makes sense? Intellectually I understand the whole “sympathy for the Devil” thing and the “misunderstood outcast” thing from stuff like Milton, but I’m just not that into it.

23. Have you ever started shipping something because of the fans?
I’ve had friends who’ve suggested that I should ship something or started giving me headcanons and ideas and got me into certain ships, so maybe? The quickest way to make me ship things is honestly to be my friend and share your excitement over a thing.

Honestly, I’m probably more likely to ship things b/c people hate them. It makes me curious and irritated so I wind up spite shipping until it becomes a legit ship.

Thanks!

Ship asks!

16 & 17 for the ask game :)

16. Is there a ship that made you realize something about yourself?
Hmmmm. That’s kind of a hard question I think because to me the answer is yes, all of them. Maybe I’m a little over-analytical, but I feel like every ship has some kind of core attraction that draws a person in for whatever reason. For a ship like megstiel, for example, it’s this kind of “opposites attract, there’s a little good in the bad girl and a little bad in the good guy” kind of thing that I think pulls me in. So like, looking at that, I suppose it shows me that I like the idea of people coming together and bringing out better qualities in each other.

I think there’s something in every ship I enjoy that says something about me. I love interesting character dynamics, so maybe that’s what I realized.

17. Is there a type of ship you always go for?
Oh yes. Drama and angst are pretty much a must. I love stories where there’s something huge keeping lovers apart, whether that’s a war or physical space or even one character’s personal issues. I love love stories where characters have to compromise with each other, where the can be better (or worse) people because of each other, and where they’re just not quite allowed to be together for whatever reason. Of course, I’m a huge sap so I want to see them overcome their adversities and get together in the end, but I want them to earn it.

Thanks!
