Internet clickbait and listy articles have done nothing for actually helping people understand film criticism and literary analysis. “Top 10 Heroes Who are Actually Awful People” and “How Your Favorite Cartoon was Secretly About Death” are fun and all, but I feel like there’s a line between legitimate discussion of the contents of a film or comic or whatever and half-cocked garbage. And I hate it when the half-cocked garbage wins out as a popular theory. (*glares at all the crap said about Beauty and the Beast*)

Power ranger/super hero AU with Dean/Ketch or Charlie/Jo

“It’s over, Ketch,” Dean shouted as the dust settled over what was left of the broken street between the two enemies. 

“You say that every time,” Ketch said back, “yet every time you fail to do anything about it,” he strode forward, casting lightning out and away from his body in great, wing-like arches. 

They both knew why he wouldn’t end it – after everything they’d been through, what they’d been to each other – but as Dean pulled back and gathered his remaining strength he knew he couldn’t stall the inevitable forever. 

3 (or there abouts) Sentence AUs!

Do you have any headcanons about Kaia and Claire? I still can’t get over them and how much I love them!

😀 Oh anon I totally do! And I’ve been thinking about them a lot, too. Here are some of my headcanons. 

Kaia obviously hates sleeping and avoids it as long as possible. It isn’t until she’s about to pass out that she lets herself fall asleep. Claire promises to watch over her while she sleeps. Kaia isn’t sure what she could actually do to help but somehow it kind of does? She still dream walks pretty often, but Claire is there to wake her up before it gets too bad. 

The have breakfast together a lot. Of course, it’s never at proper breakfast time because Kaia’s sleep schedule is totally screwed and Claire tends to come back from hunts in the middle of the night but it’s never to late/early for waffles. 

Claire has four different leather jackets hanging in her closet. Kaia “borrowed” one because it was a little too cold for just her hoodie and thought Claire noticed she didn’t say anything. (And yeah, it smells like Claire’s perfume so maybe Kaia wears it a little more often than just when it’s cold out.) 

Claire is a french fry stealer but she only does it when she knows Kaia is paying attention b/c she wants a reaction more than anything. Kaia frowns and Claire just smirks at her. 

Their first kiss is completely on accident. Claire is leaving and they both go in for a hug at the wrong angle and they wind up brushing lips. Claire is actually the one who stutters and fumbles a bit and apologizes all over. 

You know, the tie wasn’t backwards in all of S4. In fact it was messed up after Dean and Cass’ misadventures at that brothel. So the backwards tie seems to be Cass’ thing than Jimmy’s. :)

This is a nitpick but I’ll let it stand. 

Fine. Cas’s tie wasn’t backwards until season 5. Jimmy was still wearing his tie really wrong in Lazarus Rising, so it’s easy to get confused. It’s not backwards, just horrible. 

(x) Ties aren’t supposed to go past your belt, Jimmy. 

Regardless, that wasn’t even the point of my comments about Jimmy being a mess. I’m assuming, anon, you were referring to my comments about Claire fixing Cas’s tie and not my dcj flailings about how they’re both shit dressers? B/c if this was about the Cas and Claire post the point is that when Claire was preforming a domestic action for Cas it was meant to invoke the third person who wasn’t really there. The point is less about the tie and more about the fact that when Claire says “now you look like a dad,” she’s probably thinking of her dad who Cas obviously looks like but will never be. The point is that it dressing him up like her father, the way her mother probably did when she actually had a normal family, Claire invokes Jimmy’s ghost and all the baggage that goes with it. The tie really doesn’t matter that much.

I recently read a fic with a John/Crowley side pairing and it’s wonderful. Also, Kevin paired with Balthazar might be interesting…

John/Crowley could really be interesting. I’m honestly intrigued as to how that dynamic was handled because it never would have pinged by radar. I’d like to see how the fic did it tbh because it seems very odd to me. (No hate, it’s just not something I ever would have considered!) 

Kevin/Balthazar seems like it has all kinds of potential to get kinda wild, I think. I think it might be interesting to see Kevin later in his life, after he was living in the bunker and loosened up a little, interact with Balthazar. I’d be so fascinated by whatever they chose to say to each other. That could certainly get interesting. 

I’m personally a huge fan of Sam/Benny, like their personalities are just hella compatible.

Sam/Benny! Yes! Now there’s a ship that’s really underappreciated! 

I feel like not only to Sam and Benny have similar personalities (which is part of the reason I think they didn’t get along tbh) they also have similar struggles. I mean, think about it – Sam and Benny had/have an issue with blood drinking. They’re both “addicted” to it for lack of a better term and I think they could really bond over that. In an AU it might be neat to see them bonding over their recovery from addictions. 

But Sam and Benny are both pretty gentle and self-sacrificing but they’re still willing to fight. They’re characters I’d love to see really get along and learn more about each other for sure.Â
