Need to get some words in? The Weekend Writing Marathon (WWM) is a writing challenge designed to help you do just that. You set your own writing goal for the weekend and work to achieve it before reporting back to the group on Sunday night.
How do I participate?
1. Reblog this post with your weekend writing plans–be as specific (or not) as you’d like.
2. Start writing on Friday 12:01 am local time. Work to meet your goal by Sunday night at 11:59 pm local time. You can work on whatever you want during this time.
3. Post your accomplishments at the end of the weekend (even if you didn’t reach your goal).
4. Whenever you post any work written during the WWM event please submit it to us so your fic can be included in our weekly Fic Roundup.
How do I report my accomplishments?
A Finish Line post will go up on Sunday. Reblog that post with your final word count/accomplished goal(s) by Monday at midnight local time. Totals from the weekend will be posted on Tuesday.
I love Benny. He’s a cuddly vampire with a good heart and a wonderful smile and it’s a shame he didn’t get to stick around longer. Here are a few reasons to love and appreciate Benny.
Benny was a vampire but he wasn’t interested in hurting anyone. He even went so far as to drink donate blood rather than attack people for sustenance.
He was a pirate when he was alive. Not a Golden Age of Piracy pirate (unfortunately) but a pirate nonetheless.
He spent some time working for his great-granddaughter in her diner. He killed a hunter to save her life.
He fell in love with a human and unfortunately had to find out that she had been turned into a vampire and was willing to continue hunting humans. She died in front of him.
He was never really able to fit in again after his return from Purgatory and that’s a shame.
He was actually a good person.
He saved Castiel’s life in Purgatory even though moments before he argued that Castiel probably wouldn’t make it through the portal and should be left behind. He relents, giving in to Dean’s judgment and saves Cas even though he didn’t have to.
Benny died so Sam would be able to find the way out of Purgatory and stayed behind because he didn’t feel he belonged among the living.
The last we see of Benny is a fight he has with vampires. We don’t know if he won or lost.
He has an awesome hat.
His tearful goodbye with Dean is sad and terrible and also great.
His southern drawl is fun. We haven’t had many characters (who aren’t some manner of British) with noticeable accents.
Numerous innuendos can be made about how he was carried by Dean out of Purgatory.
Benny was an all around good dude who, much to my surprise, did not turn out to be a bad guy and given the Winchester’s history with monster allies up to that point, it was great to see. He was like a big, cuddly vampire teddy bear who was still willing to kick ass when needed.

For the content creators in fandom:
1. Your value is not in how much fic you can churn out, how perfect your art is, how many reblogs/likes/comments/kudos you get.
2. You earn space in this community by participation just like everyone else. But you don’t have to continually earn that space over and over and over. I know it feels that way, like you have to post new content ALL THE TIME or everyone will forget you. Participate in the way you can at that moment, and if you need to step back for a while, we’ll be here when you’re ready to come back.
3. Comparison will be the death of us all. If you want crit, find a kind community who will actually help you grow your skills instead of a random person swooping in to make a negative unrequested crit never to be seen again.
