If you’re part of fandom, it’s not your job to:

  • convince others to ship your ships
  • convince others to love the same characters you love
  • convince others not to ship their ships
  • convince others not to love the characters they love
  • ship anything if you don’t want to
  • like characters if you don’t want to
  • push your ideas onto others
  • encourage other people to push their ideas onto others

If you’re part of fandom, it’s your job to:

  • have fun*
  • be kind

*if your version of fun is to write analysis of characters or ships or whatever (aka meta) that’s wonderful. please continue to do that. while analysis is always meant to convince someone of one thing or another, it’s not up to you whether or not anyone agrees with you. people will take it or leave it. can that be frustrating? sure, but it’s not the end of the world. say your piece and then let it go.

“Kriff,” he whispered as the sharp edges of one of his son’s cyrilform cambiblocks, and then another, dug into his socked foot. “Kriff kriff!” He glanced back at the couch, but Ben slept on.
