I saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom for the first time last night and really I only wanna say three things.
1) Some of the camera work in it was gorgeous. There are some really nice long shots, especially the one in the bubble car thingy as it’s sinking. The genuine sense of claustrophobia was awesome.
2) They did a much better job of not showing the monster this time. The build up to the Indo-raptor was great. Like little flashes here and there of part of it’s body until you actually saw the whole thing paid off in my opinion. When you actually saw it, it was freaky looking. Also, that scene with the bedroom was specifically designed to give little kids nightmares. When I was a kid I was terrified of dinosaurs coming into my room to eat me b/c of that scene with the T-Rex in JP2 so the scene in Fallen Kingdom was like 10,000x worse. I would’ve never slept again as a child.
3) There damn well better be human/dino crossbreeds in the next film. I don’t remember how many years ago it was, but Universal did a human/dino crossbreed theme for one of it’s horror nights and the idea has been in the back of my mind ever since. The set-up for it is right there. Come on, Universal, give me freaky ass dino-people!!

RAVENWOLF36 ASKED: 62, 70 AND JAYDICK. MAYBE DICK IS TALKING TO TIM ABOUT JAY.

I had my first ask technical glitch! A true tumblr milestone, ugh. So, with help from and many thanks to ravenwolf, here’s a fun jaydick trope mashup 🙂

This is such a good scenario: “love confession” (character A to character B about character C) and “locked in a room”…this might be one of my favorite combos…

Dick doesn’t understand how he gets himself into these situations.

It’d been a routine investigation that ended up with himself and Red Robin locked in a mob boss’ panic room. He knows the Bats are coming; knows that they got his and Tim’s calls for help. Dick knows that all he can do is wait.

Tim has other plans. He’s tired of watching the elder former Robins dance around each other. Dick know this, too, because Tim comes out and says it; right there as they sit criss cross applesauce on the floor of a poorly stocked secret hidey hole. Not even a deck of cards to play with.

“Tim, I’m not talking about this with you,” Dick says.

“There’s nothing going on,” Dick continues.

“I don’t know where you get these ideas.”

“Some detective you are.”

And then,

“Yes, I’m in love with Jason and I don’t know what to do about it. If I tell him, he’ll panic and never talk to me again. He’ll probably never talk to any of us again. But Jason is the one person I can talk to, the one person who understands most of what I’m going through.”

Dick doesn’t stop.

“I mean, have you seen his thighs?”

“And if you do happen to catch his smile? It’s gorgeous!”

At this point, Tim has closed his eyes and gone to sleep.

Dick kicks out at his little brother, startling him awake, but remains silent. He’s content to stare at the door and think about what it would be like to openly share his love for the Red Hood.

When the rescue does come, of course it’s Jay.

Tim and Dick stare at him in awkward silence, slowly standing up and attempting to casually make their escape.

“For god’s sake,” Jason says when the silence goes on for too long, “I heard everything. You dorks left your comms on.”

END.

Uhhh…I didn’t set out to make a tiny story, but I really loved the prompts XD Thanks @ravenwolf36 for providing such fun inspiration!!

What really bothers me about Wendig’s firing is the things that lead up to it and the message it sends. If it were just for “vulgarity” I could understand, even if I still don’t think that’s a reason to fire anyone. What bothers me is that Wendig’s vulgarity and “negativity” was the result of the harassment he’d been getting. You can only push someone so far and make them go through so much before the lash out and that’s what happened. Wendig’s blog lists some of the things he’s been through  and honestly, it’s vile. The kind of things the people who create Star Wars have to go through is asinine. Wendig pushed boundaries by including LGBT+ characters in his content and possessive, whiny homophobes didn’t like it. So they complain and they scream and they cry and they harass for years and Wendig gets more and more irritated and becomes more and more bitter until finally the whiners get what they want and Wendig is no longer writing for Marvel and Star Wars. That’s a really disturbing issue.

There’s also the issue of Wendig being “too political” which is also ridiculous and frightening.

The message this sends it that harassment works. If you’re loud enough, if you’re mean enough, if you’re a constant, incessant jerk willing to do anything from calling people names to telling them to kill themselves, to literally calling SWAT on them, you can eventually drive that horrible person out. There are no consequences for the people who forced Jake Lloyd out of acting. There are no consequences for the people who bullied Kelly Marie Tran off of social media. There are no consequences for the people who SWAT-ed Chuck Wendig.

It’s vile. It’s deplorable. It needs to end. No more. Absolutely no more of this crap.

I don’t know how to fix the issues in fandom The only thing I know how to do is two fold: 1) Support creators receiving harassment. 2) Stop harassing people and stop making excuses for people who do it. It doesn’t matter that you do or do not like something, there is no excuse to take your feelings out on another living person. Grow up and let it go.
