If Dean is the embodiment of humanity, what is Sam the embodiment of?

Uhh probably shouldn’t answer this after this many wines and will probably get told off but …. imo bad choices, second chances and redemption.

Also the fight!  Sam’s curse and addictions can easily be viewed as a metaphor for depression and a genetic pre-disposition  to addictive behaviour which eats away at your potential and goodness.  Because sometimes, it feels like the addiction and depression alone is driving, to both the outside world and the sufferer.

Sam must surmount his own difficulties and loss of sense of self, his guilt, his pain and his rage.  Then try to make something better.  Dean’s struggle is connecting with his true self.  Sam’s struggle is finding himself, beneath the rubble that remains.

He and Cas are haunted by their past and abnormal nature. Their shifting dreams of what could be a better world.  They must fight to claim themselves.

The embodiment of perseverance, even in the face of what seems ‘right’ and how they feel ‘wrong’.

Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh

away the sin of the world.
